GIVE Fitness Health Club has a mission “To exceed member expectations at every opportunity with fitness facilities that are maintained, affordable, accessible and safe.” With the obesity epidemic in our country, ownership deemed it imperative to open up the market in order to make fitness more accessible and affordable to the community of Atascadero. On a larger scale, GIVE Fitness has established a vision to “Transform the fitness industry by becoming pillars in the communities in which we conduct business. We will do this by generously donating 50% of our profits to programs that strengthen personal character, create value in people and provide opportunities for personal growth.”
GIVE Fitness Health Club has been brought to Atascadero under the umbrella of its parent company: Working to GIVE. Matthew Holguin started Working to GIVE when completing his MBA at Azusa Pacific University in 2005. It was his intention to create a company that was purpose driven rather than profit driven. As a result, the GIVE model pre-allocates all profits for the various businesses that currently operate under the Working to GIVE umbrella. 50% of GIVE profits are donated back into the communities in which GIVE businesses operate and the other 50% are reinvested back into the business in order to sustain the company’s growth pattern. It is GIVE’s mission to provide life in its fullness for 100 countries over the next 20 years – truly loving our neighbors as ourselves! GIVE businesses include food concessions at Disneyland, Colossal & Legendary Gelato, Aqua Free Waterless Carwash, The Stocking Project, and most recently GIVE Fitness Health Club.
It was a series of random events and shared connections that led Matt to a meeting with Josh Donovan. The two connected immediately and saw an opportunity for partnership. Josh has been in the health and fitness industry for over 10 years and is an Atascadero native. He identified some of the unique qualities of the Atascadero market and feeling that some needs were not presently being met, saw great opportunity for a new type of fitness product. Josh serves as the Managing Partner of the Atascadero Give Fitness location and the Chief Operating Officer of the Fitness Division for Working to Give.
